School Sports Funding

At Eastlands Primary School, we are committed to promoting the importance of good health and well-being for all of our children. We recognise the important role that Physical Education (PE) plays in this, as well as the positive influence it has on concentration, attitude and academic achievement.

What is School Sports Funding?

The government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for 5 academic years to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

PE and Sport Premium 2019/2020

  • For the financial year 2018-2019 we have been given an additional amount of money by the government called The PE and Sport Premium. This additional funding is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.
  • In 2018-2019 we will receive £16,000. As a school we believe that working with others to improve our school performance is very advantageous and the route to success. So this year, we have taken into account Ofsted reports of how schools are spending their PE and Sport Premium; government suggestions and our own successful experiences have been considered during the decision making process so that we can truly make informed decisions of how we can directly impact on improving the delivering and achievement of all individual pupils at Eastland’s Primary School

How we are intending to spend the money so far:

  • Purchasing a new football kit for the Cup matches and also for Level 1 and Level 2 events and competitions.
  • CPD opportunities for our members of staff within school to increase expertise and broaden the sports we can offer on a daily basis.
  • Raise the profile of Physical Education and a ‘Love of Sport’.

Updating the school’s sports equipment, introduce new resources, new sporting activities and the resources required to teach each sport effectively.
